Grandma Val's Popcorn Balls
This recipe makes about 50 popcorn balls.
4 cups sugar 2 cups water 2 cups white (Karo) syrup 2 tbs. vinegar 2 tbs. oleo (butter for Renea) 2 tsp. vanilla 2 lbs. white popcorn
Place every ingredient except popcorn in high pan. Stir and wipe sides with damp cloth. Boil (on large burner set on 8) until the mixture forms a perfect ball when dropped into cold water (chewy, not runny). Do NOT stir while cooking - test as often as you wish. Make balls ½ batch at a time. Warm the syrup mixture for second batch if necessary. Wash hands - put a little butter on them and let 'er rip!
